Thank you, Virgil.

Thank you for being the voice for me today in Washington.  Thank you for doing what is right instead of doing what is popular.  Thank you for realizing that there is a threat TODAY that is far greater to my children and to me than the possibility of the earth’s temperature rising one degree sometime in the next 100 years. (or is it 300 years?)

While I pride myself on being self-reliant and not depending on government to provide a better life for me and my family, I have no choice but to defer to you to voice my concerns and vote to safeguard us when it comes to the threat posed by RADICAL Muslim factions.

I see it like this: It is estimated that there are roughly one billion Muslims in the world.  If only 1% of those are radical or extremist, that’s ten million people that want to see us convert or die.  I don’t like those odds and I don’t like those options.

I’ve yet to see a country or a community benefit from an influx of radical Muslims.  I’ve seen the opposite.  Until the 99% of peaceful Muslims step up and temper the behavior of the radical 1%, I’m counting on you, Virgil.

Don’t let me down.

Stupid as in pretty much everything you just said up there. If you think that Virgil Goode is accomplishing a damn thing by spewing such ignorance, then, well, yes, he’ll be representing you well up there. Congrats on getting the representation you deserve.

I think they behead them dont they Thomas Krehbiel ? Is that not what they do to infidels?
Please enlighten us with a comparison in violence between Christian and RADICAL Muslim factions.
I must have missed the news stories of Christians beheading non believers. Or attacking embassies, ships, military bases, skyscrapers?

MB: Are you saying that global warming is a greater threat than terrorism? If you can articulate your difference in opinion without being insulting, then please do. Please change my mind on this. Then maybe I can hang with the “cool” crowd.

Well, that depends, Badrose, on whether you think that the truth is insulting or not. If it is, stop here.

If not, well, it’s idiot thinking like what you did right there - who the hell said anything about global warming? - that puts us in danger. Far more than anything else discussed in this post. Yes, there are people out there who would like to hurt and kill other people. That does not mean we throw away all goddamn sense and practice and run around like chickens with our heads cut off, blathering on about what’s printed on our money.

Yes, unfettered immigration would be a mess for the world. But no one - NO ONE - except the figments of Goode’s imagination is supporting unfettered immigration.

I suspect this country would be 10x better off than it is, if it didn’t have to spend so much time beating the stupid back.

When did you enlist, Kilo?

When liberals have no other argument they tend to fall back on their favorite diversionary tactics. It’s simple to see, and these comments illustrate it perfectly.

MB cannot refute anything Virgil or Badrose stated, so he resorts to insults and dirty words.

Thomas, faced with the same dilemma, can only bring up ancient history. The difference Thomas, in case you didn’t know, is that Christianity underwent an enlightenment period about 700 years ago. Islam is yet to experience any such period, and is culturally 700 years behind the rest of the world.

I wrote about this last year (http://www.americancivilization.net/
articles/2006/No_Border_No_Nation.htm) on why we don’t speak Pictish.

Immigration has to be controlled.

Islamic immigration should be curtailed and rigorously scrutinized to let very few in - because the proportion of naturally-occuring Islamists coming out of Islam is 10%, not 1%.

Thanks, Badrose.

And it’s brilliant tacticians like Alton who, after claiming that the earth is flat, and everyone else rolls their eyes and walks away, says - “Ha! You can’t refute me! I win!”

Yes, Alton, you’re a *winner*.

And the rest of you lot would be well served to making an effort to actually learn a thing or three about this Big Scary Islam you sit in judgment on. Maybe even - gasp - meet a few muslims.

Nope, MB. I never said the earth is flat. Quite the opposite actually. Nice try at obfuscation, but it seems it is you who is denying the obvious.

I have learned a thing or three about Big Scary Islam. Perhaps you could open your enlightened mind for a moment and let me fill you in.

1)A recent Gallup Poll, based on interviews with 9,000 Muslims in 9 countries revealed some interesting facts; For example, I bet you think that the few radical islamists who do exist are poor, uneducated, and full of hopelessness and hate, right? Well, that would be wrong, but don’t feel bad MB, that’s what most people believe as well.

The Poll I just mentioned showed a statistically insignificant difference in the religiosity between moderate and radical Muslims. They also found that overall, radicals were better educated, had higher incomes, considered their future to be brighter, and had a higher self-esteem. In other words, just the type you would welcome in an immigration policy, right?

Ah ha, you say. It’s our way of life that the radicals abhor then. Nope, again you would be wrong. the responses were equal on the questions of “what do you most admire about the west?”. Both groups answers were statistically equal, with the top two values being western technology and liberty/democracy/freedom of speech.

How does one recognize a radical Islamist? One doesn’t, until it’s too late. How does a country safely decide on an immigration policy under these circumstances?

2)I’m sure i don’t have to take you by the hand and show you the hundreds of references to total world domination espoused by radical islamists, do I? I didn’t think so.

3)Are you comfortable with the tenet espoused by Muslims, and not just “radical” Muslims, that state something along these lines; Muslims are forbidden from obliging a non-Muslim to embrace Islam, but he should pay the tribute (a tax, called Jizyah) to Muslims readily and submissively, surrender to Islamic laws, and should not practice his polytheistic rituals openly.

4)I could go on, but this has turned into a rather lengthy piece for a comment section.

Thank you Badrose for allowing me to use your soapbox, (not to mention you kitchen counter and wireless).

MB: No, the truth is not insulting; I the hell mentioned (rather inferred) global warming in my post above, as being less of a threat than radical Muslims.
I really hoped you would provide some facts to support your position but I see that you are apparently more interested in making false accusations and painting extreme scenarios.
Here’s our common ground: 1) We AGREE that there are people out there who would like to hurt and kill other people.
2) We AGREE that unfettered immigration would be a mess for the world.
Taking it a step further, having a loosely monitored and enforced immigration policy (one including minimum quotas) can be a mess for US.
Those are your first two dots. Check back here if you need help connecting them.

J - excellent post. I agree with your figure of 10% being more accurate but I used 1% to prove the point that EVEN 1% means 10,000,000.
I’m supposed to fear 10,000,000 microbes living in my mattress but not 10,000,000 people who have sworn to kill me for being an infidel? I’m not THAT blonde!

I really don’t believe that you “really hoped” any such thing, Badrose. You and idiots like Alton make grand pronouncements about the state of the world while having little to no actual experience with it. I’d like to pretty much leave you alone, condemned to your own world of ignorance, but here you are, spouting off as if you know the first thing.

If you actually gave a shit about the things you claim to, you’d bother learning more about the world.
