I've been here and working for a year coming down from the cold north and it doesn't surprise me in the least why VW would opt not to open a plant in Martinsville. Let me lay a few reasons:

1.The work force has the worst work ethic I have ever had to work with, and yes I have traveled.

2.The work force is stubborn, closed-minded and cannot adapt to new ideas or concepts.

3.The work force concentrates on quantity rather than quality of the product which in turn hinders the future quantities.

These are just a few big ones followed by many other I have been struggling to understand. I hardly ever put my own fate in the hands of political leaders and don't ever intend to change that. In my opinion most of them are too out of touch with reality to solve problems that can be simplified instead of complicated. For Martinsville to change the people are going to have to change just as the rest of the world is changing. They can either choose to change, or the world will decide for them what their fate will be. Crying about what is happening has never solved anyones problems. Only good actions can cause good reactions. Some suggestions:

1. Educate and raise the expectations. The level of education of the h.s. graduates in this area is ridiculous.

2. Stop doing the same things. Furniture was great, but there is a hell of a lot more to the rest of the world.

3. Less talking more action. I hear a lot of talking about what people are going to do instead of actually doing. Based on my own personal experiences doing gets you better results even if there is risk involved.

Theres my 2 cents worth.

AND buy us all lunch, AND wear a shirt that says "i rode the short bus to the capitol AND... Seriously, I agree with you. He DOES need to come out and say something of substance sometime. Arriving late and leaving early from political forums hasn't helped his reputation either. I was impressed when I heard he was going to appear on Bob Lawson's show to "set the record straight"
but all he did when he got there was pass the buck.
Let's hope THIS election, people will ignore the D or R beside the candidate and look at their record - or lack of it.

Vote Jeff Evans!

I hardly think that playing disingeuous about all of this is the right position for Sen. Reynolds to take. If he IS that stupid, why in the world is anyone going to vote for him? I think that he needs to take a lesson from Marion Jones and come clean on this. And apologize individually to all of the members of the ODBA whose names may now end up God knows where because of the NAMBLA link. Shame, shame on him and Joe Stanley. They are completely irresponsible for having done this, and Sen. Reynolds is the one who should take the ultimate responsibility. He is supposed to be a leader, right?

Thanks for the compliment - I doubt I have any pull. Maybe they just forgot a big fancy party at the museum featuring a former governor.

I thought the same thing about the VMNH party. (Nice how Roscoe can use state facilities but Jeff can't,isn't it?) Perhaps the amended report came from your mentioning it. We know you have the type of pull!

On this point, great post.
