Filed under: John McCain, National — Badrose at 10:37 am on August 29, 2008

It’s official! Sarah Palin will be our

next vice-president!

Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK)

She supports drilling and doesn’t mind letting that little sniveler Harry Reid know it.
She loves the military and shows it.
She hates pork in the budget and vetoes it.
She recognizes ineffective management and revokes it.
She’s married to a strapping manly-man who is a four-time champion of the Iron Dog.
They have 5 beautiful children. The oldest one is in the U.S. Army and the youngest one is just 5 months old!

Oh, and did I mention she’s a lifetime member of the NRA?

h/t: likudnic!

Cindy McCain in Georgia - Will Visit Gori

Filed under: International, John McCain, National, fun stuff — Badrose at 2:46 am on August 26, 2008

TIME reports that Cindy McCain has left for Georgia tonight as part of a coalition of the United Nations’ World Food Program. She plans to meet with the president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, as well as visiting wounded Georgian troops. Serving on the board of The HALO Trust, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to remove the “debris of war” (landmines), Cindy will also visit HALO representatives.

According to The Moscow Times, Cindy will land in Tbilisi and then travel to the town of Gori. Heavily damaged by the attack on August 8th by the Russian Forces, Gori is ironically the birthplace of Joseph Stalin. Coincidentally, I have a friend who also recently toured Gori and reports that Gori suffered damage to its transportation, energy, government and residential infrastructure as a result of the Russian bombings.

Here is a picture of an apartment building where sixteen citizens were killed and thirteen were injured:

An especially chilling photo is this one, of a Russian missile that landed (mostly intact) in a family’s home.

Of an estimated 130,000 displaced people, about 5,000 have returned to Gori.

The struggles of those yearning to obtain a democracy and those who struggle to maintain their fragile ones should make us all stop for a moment to appreciate ours.

Let’s also take a moment to appreciate Cindy McCain and my friend, Jim. To them, “not self, but others” is so much more than a motto - it’s a way of life.

FLUFFERNUTTERS!!!

So all this stuff is like so much Fluffernutter out there. ~ Joe Biden February 2007 ~

I predict sales of MARSHMALLOW FLUFF® are about to skyrocket but don’t call your broker. Although you can’t buy shares of Durkee-Mower, Inc., you can still buy their stuff!

Barack Obama Has No Clothes.

I love to read CatHouse Chat. Kat chooses words as carefully as she chooses the right colors for her quilts and the result, in both cases, is a delight to those fortunate enough to view either. She recently quoted The Virginian-Pilot reporting on Barack Obama’s visit to Martinsville:

“I’m not going to say all the jobs in Martinsville are going to come back if I’m elected president,” Obama told about 300 invited guests - most of them blue-collar workers - who gathered at Patrick Henry Community College.

“I’m not saying the schools will be fixed,” he added. “What I’m saying is that I’m going to wake up every morning thinking about you.”

I agree with Kat:

Yeah. Right. You want to know what he’s gonna be thinking? He’s gonna sit up in bed at the White House every morning, have a good stretch, and think, “I can’t believe those schmucks actually bought it!”

Vote NObama - because if hope ain’t teamed with sweat and guts, it’s just an empty suit of hot air.

And we will be schmucks if we buy it. I’m not buying. Like a used car salesman who knows his car is a lemon, he relies on his skillful oration to close the deal. Obama has a lifetime record of mastering his oratory ability and it shows… He may very well be remembered as one of the great public speakers of our time. Millions of people have apparently bought what he’s selling. Millions of people were apparently willing to sign sub-prime loan documents they didn’t understand, too. They risk losing their homes, we risk losing our country.

I disagree with Kat’s assessment that Obama is an empty suit. I see him as being more like the emperor with no clothes. When he talks and talks without really saying anything, it’s easier to pretend we understand. Who are we to question this world traveler who demonstrates his comfort internationally while we have trouble navigating a mall? Who are we to question the president of the Harvard Law Review? Who are we to question this Chosen One with the ability to form record-breaking run-on sentences?

Here’s the Barack Obama quote you haven’t seen reported by the media:

And thinking about how to make your life a little bit better and if you can trust me to do that and I’m organizing a bunch of smart people like Mark Warner to come up with innovative ideas that’ll give you a little bit of a …. fighting chance, that will make your life a little bit better, you’re still gonna have to work hard, you’re still gonna have to sacrifice, we’re still gonna have some struggles but if I can make things a little bit easier for you and you can trust me to do that, that that’s (that’s) the reason I’m in politics, that’s my orientation, I think we can convince enough people to win this election and then we can convince even more people to start doing the work.

I didn’t go to Harvard but I’m smart enough to recognize BS when I see it and so are YOU! We don’t need the arrogant elitist to “organize a bunch of smart people like Mark Warner” to give us a “fighting chance” - the fight was in us at our birth and given to us by our Creator, not by our government.

Don’t take my word for it. Watch for yourself and decide for yourself. And don’t be ashamed to shout out the obvious: The Chosen One has no Clothes.

Is the Memory REALLY the First Thing to Go??

If so, I may be in trouble.

Was John Kerry asked how many houses he owned?  Al Gore?  I KNOW if Bill Clinton had been asked that question and answered it (truthfully) I’d remember….

He’s young and he’s got a funny name and… he’s not patriotic….. that’s what THEY are going to say. ~ Barack Obama, Henry County, August 20, 2008 ~

The general view was ‘He’d be a great U.S. senator, but he’s not gonna be able to get in.’ The attitude was ‘He’s got no money, he doesn’t come from a wealthy family, he’s got no organization, he wasn’t born into a political family, and he’s a black man with this name that folks can’t even pronounce. And it sounds Muslim! So he’s not gonna be able to get through the difficulties of the campaign process. ~ Barack Obama, Chicago, just before the November 2004 election ~

If Prime Minister Putin disagrees with Obama’s plans, ideas or treaties… will these lines continue to work?

You’re not pulling your tanks out of Georgia like you said you would because I’m young, have a funny name….. ~ Barack Obama, 2009? ~

Hey, maybe it’s worth a try. Who knows? If it ain’t broke, why fix it, right?

Oh hell - Chosen One dropped his water bottle cap and received applause. I spilled an entire Diet Coke in my lap at Buffalo Wild wings and was lucky to get a dish towel… Is it because I’m young, (younger than Obama, anyway) short, have a funny middle name….

One of his young whippersnappers needs to tell him that the US Women’s fencing team won ALL THREE gold medals…

Obama and Warner are “tag teaming” the Q&A session. (No rules but he decided to go “girl, boy, girl, boy…” after deciding that going “boy, girl, boy, girl…” might cost him votes in the South. This decision might hurt his chances with feminists but I truly doubt it.) Warner talks while Obama blows his nose. Does Chosen One have a cold? If so, why hasn’t the media been all over it? If someone picks up his used Kleenex for a souvenir I think I’ll spill another Diet Coke…

Event is over - no VP announcement here… maybe Lynchburg? Nah.

He’s Here….

Mark Warner introduced him.  A cell phone or two rang during the introduction and Warner encouraged people to leave their phones ON.  Does he make money off of that, too?

Man of hope is explaining how bad things are under Bush… I better go listen.

Starnews has live streaming video HERE.  Watch if you can - my guess is that he doesn’t have a teleprompter….

The Big Day is Here! OBAMARAMA!

Filed under: "hmmmmm . . ", Henry County, John McCain, Martinsville, National — Badrose at 11:33 am on

So today’s the day… Obama’s on his way…

As Emeril has already stated, reports continue to trickle in that the “town hall” meeting is not only invitation only, but that in order to be approved for the “golden ticket” invitation, you must sign a pledge of allegiance. (Actually, a pledge that you intend to vote for BO but I couldn’t resist.

Starnews, led by Charles Roark is doing an AWESOME job of covering this event. Without him and his efforts, those of us “unchosen” would be in the dark…
