The “Glass Ceiling” Never Even Saw Her Coming…

and it wouldn’t have mattered, anyway.

Tonight, I am truly awestruck.  …And thankful that, just as I had Margaret Thatcher, my daughter has

Sarah Palin.

One question:  How did this obviously Southern woman come from Alaska?

Mrs. Palin, consider yourself adopted, you Steel Magnolia, you!!

The best speech I have ever witnessed. The advocate for special needs children is HUGE.
We got a leader in this lady.

So true, Big K, so true. Don’t tell anyone I told you BUT: Alton called me at the end of the speech AND: we were both crying!

LOL
There were tears here at HQ also.
I learned at a young age the the strongest power in the world is that of a smart, strong willed woman. I have spent my life surrounding myself with them. You, as one of my friends, is proof of that.
To the naysayers - If this speech did not touch your heart, you are already dead. This lady is CHANGE, She is Hope, She is a leader.
I have work early and there is no way I can sleep now…

Hey, no fair. You started it when you mentioned the daughter…

It really was the best speech I’ve ever heard. Hard and tough, from a beautiful, soft featured woman. Top that libs!

I must have been channeling you. I kept thinking Margaret Thatcher and Steel Magnolia after the first 30 seconds. She gave me goose bumps on my arms, a smile on my face and a tear in my eye, all at the same time.

Funny, I don;t recall Reagan or Lady Thatcher running off and giding for over two weeks to prepare to answer question from the press..”jump the shark” is a phrase that comes to mind.

BR, your initial reax surprise me a bit…thought you might want more substance and would look at most pols with a bit more skepticism?

Cato:

Any typical politician would, no doubt, earn my skepticism but Palin is (obviously) no typical politician. Are you telling me that, honestly, you don’t see the substance of this woman?

If she isn’t campaigning daily then she must be hiding. If she’s out front every day, then she’s stealing Obama’s thunder. There’s no pleasing those of you on the left…

BR, quite frankly some of the YouTube’s of her speaking scare the devil out of me. I have no douby she has mush substance as to Alaskan State politics. My problem is her Christianist views and the application of those to politics. Do you agree we are on “God’s task” in Iraq? Do you beleive the Lord has a position on a pipeline?

Here is what I mean about the substance:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122065537792905483.html

I know these are form left leaning organization like the Cat Institute and the Wall Street Journal that are obciously biased as the conservatives (TIC) but truly, if The City or County pulled a stunt liek that, you’d be up in arms…rightfully so!

I don’t believe you should base your opinion of her or anyone else on what you see on YouTube.
I don’t believe “Christianist” is a word…
Without seeing the full context of her remarks I really can’t agree or disagree.
Regardless, I support McCain and see Gov. Palin as icing (the BEST icing one could hope for) on an already substantial cake.
That being said, I don’t agree 100% with anyone. McCain/Palin is no exception. However, their platform and experience combined with their records (plus Cindy McCain’s public service record) puts this ticket (by far) much closer to representing what I DO believe.

Do you agree with everything Obama/Biden espouse?

Comment by Cato

September 8, 2008 @ 12:36 pm

I agree with VERY VERY little that spews form Obama/Biden for I beleive that in the end, they are only different with the GOP in the appointment of judges. They wont change the interventionist foreign policy and as to socialism, W just took over Fredde Mac and Fannie Mae, so much for the free market.

I agree with Jesse Ventura, “politics is fake” the Dems and GOP are the same and when out of the ring, they are all together.

Ill probably vote for Bob Barr or Chuck Baldwin

And your vote won’t be worth a bucket of warm spit.

Cato, you simply amaze me. Rather than voting for someone who might, just might, mind you, make a difference, you stand and pretend to be far superior for your position on Barr and Baldwin? May as well vote for Cato (the original) himself.

If badrose is impressed with Palin, who the heck are you to tell her that she’s made a bad choice?

Your claims of great Libertarian ideals fall hollow when stood alongside your financial support of Armstrong and Reynolds. Not to mention the fact that your chosen area of law practice is completely at odds with those high-minded Libertarian ideals. Could all that talk just be to soothe your guilty conscience?

Mr. Foley,

Am I to understand that because I choose to help elders protect their assets from the government and help the rich shield their wealth from the IRS, that I am a hyporcite? Did I pass the Medicaid laws? Did I pass the tax laws? Are not people entitled to represenatation?

I wish I were able to have taken a clerkship or internship with a judge or think tank, but after my MILITARY SERVICE overseas for 9 years, I had a family to support and I started my own business.

As for my financial support for the two gents you cite, you may also wish to point out that I gave Ron Paul a lot more money and he isnt even a friend of mine. Can you find a website that show how much I gave rhe Cato Institute? Or the Campaign for Liberty? Why i it a virtue for Dems to stick with Virgil, but when I make a contribution to a longtime friend (you may want to mention Chap Petersen too) that I am singled out for vilification?

My principles are sound and I sleep well at night.

As to Badrose’s choice, that her decision. I just wondered if she was aware of other items.

As to my vote, Ill take a vote for principle over the lesser of two evils anyday

So Cato’s vote don’t count. Big deal, if Va goes for Oboma El Biden I will eat my hat. I don’t know about any other state but this pick for vp has sealed the deal for McCain in Va. By the way, I was crying also.
